I'm looking for a nice place to stay over just one night, on our way to Munich from Vienna.....traveling by car. Any suggestions?
I would stay in Durnstein. It is a very nice little village which has the ruins of the castle where Richard Lion Heart was held captive. The village emptys out of tourists by evening. We stayed at Stockingerhof: http://www.stockingerhof.at/ Grein is another nice place along the Danube. We stayed at the Goldenes Kreuz:

Thanks,
Yes, I thought we would spend a good part of our morning finishing our stay in Vienna, grab a car and then take our time traveling along the Danube, having a picnic along the river, seeing Melk Abbey, visiting Krems and a few other spots along the way. Didn't want to rush the sights. Would you then recommend Melk or Krems to stay? Then a fresh start getting early into Munich the next morning. We will then have a day in Munich before checking into our lodging there. Any suggestions on an apartment outside the city? I'm using Munich as a day trip hub.
