B & B in Burgundy

We will be driving from Paris to Beaune in mid September and are having difficulty finding accomodations in a B&B or small hotel around Beaune. Many are full or are beyond our budget of 60-80 euros. We would also like to rent bicycles for 1/2 day to tour the vineyards. Thanks for suggestions.

Rick gives many sleeping picks in and around Beaune, in that price range, in the Burgundy chapter of his book, France 2008. Have you inquired at all of them?

We usually try to find a Logis de France hotel when we are on the road in France. If you go to their website you will find about 10 of this group's hotels in the Beaune area. If you are not familiar with the name, they are an association of small, family-owned hotels and we have never stayed at one that did not please. A few years ago we stayed at le Sainte Marie in Nolay, a few kms from Beaune and I can certainly recommend it. You can also buy their book with all the hotels listed, at their website for 7 euro. Good luck.

I was in Beaune two summers ago...stayed at the Henry i or some such, one block outside the old city gate. Very nice. I would recmmend it..Rates were cheaper on the internet than in person. Definitely visit the Hotel De Dieu in Beaune.

Sept is a difficult time to find rooms; and rates are higher. Ty a search in some small towns near Beaune if you dont get help on this page. Also search for 'pensions' or 'small hotels' in Beaune.

I would begin by googling 'Beaune accommodations' to see what other choices may be available.

thanks for the suggestions. We realized that not only is September tougher for accommodations, we are also there on a weekend. We have tried most all of Rick Steve's suggestions from his book plus several of the sites on internet (eyeburgundy, venere and tripadvisor). What is the driving like if we do have find a place about about 40km from Beaune?

Karen: Driving from where? if you give the town that's 40km away, I might be able to give you useful info about that specific drive.

Karen,

We are also going to Beaune in September, for a jazz and wine festival. We are staying in Paris, but will take the train to Beaune and spend the night so we can drink wine and listen to jazz. The person who runs the festival, "JJ," happens to own Le Bistrot Bourguignon in Beaune, and he and I have conversed by email. He recommended the Hotel Bretonniere for us to spend the night. We booked a room for about 79 Euro, but they have less expensive rooms. You might want to check it out.
