AVOID Paris Shuttle

I should have listened to the one complaint when I posted something here two weeks ago looking for a reputable shuttle service in Paris. I had issues with this shuttle company. I arrived in Paris at 3:00 in the afternoon and they took about an hour to come get me. I didn't get to my hotel until 6:00 p.m. Yup! Then on the day I left Paris, I had a scheduled pick up at 8 a.m.. No surprise at all, but after ten minutes of waiting outside my hotel no shuttle van appeared. Then one came by and was dropping off some customers, and as I was about to load my stuff the driver said this was not for me. I had him call his supervisor and the story just got more ridiculous from there. Apparently, there was a driver in front of the hotel at 7:45 am and because he didn't see me he took off. Uh, the pick up was scheduled for 8 am, not 7:45, and I was outside the hotel right at 8 am. I had the hotel's bellman call the company for me and that phone conversation lasted about 10 minutes and even the bellman was getting aggravated with these people. They had another shuttle pick me up, but for the $75 I paid this company is so NOT WORTH IT.

Gabriel,

Thanks for the warning. I haven't had any problems with the Shuttles I've used in the past (arranged by the Hotel), but I can't remember what the name of the Shuttle firm was?

I usually prefer the RER / Metro route these days. Hope you have better luck on future trips.

Cheers!

Gabriel - yikes! ok, I've booked with Paris Shuttle for our trip & now I'm nervous as hell. I've spoken with a gal Ami several times, and everything sure "seems" taken care of! Did they give you any sort of reason?

UGH

Different city - same result. We stayed at the hotel in Nice where our RS "Paris and s/o France" ended for a couple of nights after the tour. We were told by the front desk that they could arrange a taxi to the airport for a better cost than if we called the taxi company direct. They said they had a contract with this particular taxi company. So, we went ahead and had them arrange for a 5:30 AM pick-up and we paid them and got a receipt. We went outside at 5:15 AM and no taxi came. At 5:45 we returned to the front desk and complained about the no-show since we were catching an early morning flight. They called the taxi company and the taxi company said they had no record of their call. I asked the desk to order a taxi immediately and said we would be outside just incase another taxi came by. My wife was smart enough to demand our advanced payment back and she got it. We shortly flagged down a passing taxi and after explaining our situation to the taxi driver, he made a speed run to the airport and we made the flight OK.
A too long story to point out that even if a front desk at a RS hotel makes you a reservation, you can still have problems. Keep your options open.

We just got back Wednesday from Paris and used Paris Shuttle both to and from the airport. Everything was fine. In fact, upon arrival I had to dash to the TI to get our museum passes and the shuttle waited about 10 minutes for me to return. The return shuttle arrived at our hotel right at the exact time scheduled.

Denise, the name of the shuttle service is Paris-Shuttle.

Chris, I know others have had good luck with them, but don't be surprised if this happens to you. I originally had booked with Golden Air (recommended by RS), but it was a bit too pricey.

Andrea, lucky you. I wish my service with them went well. I just got unlucky.

I chose a shuttle only because I had a lot of baggage to carry (I was on a two week trip). There was no explanation for the problem on both routes. They did seem professional and nice when I called, but I think it was just a cover up. I would have thought I wouldn't have any issues being that it is low season and there aren't that many travelers using the shuttle services. I guess I just lucked out.

We have used Bluevan shuttle in Paris twice and did not have any problems. However, I have read of others who did. I guess it is a pay your money and hope. Last two trips to Paris, we used bus and/or metro and did it our way and it worked. The problem comes in when you have lots of luggage. Sometimes, it also seems easier to just take a cab from the cab row at the airport and pay the extra 20 Euro or so and cut down the hassle. That way, you are delivered directly to your destination without any stops, etc. A warning, have the complete address and hotel name available, in writing, for the cab. Makes life easier for both of you. For example, if you are staying at an Etap, the address is mandatory. There are probably 7 or 8 Etaps in Paris.

Paris-Shuttle.com left me stranded and pocketed my money. Parishuttle.com has always been on time and done what they said. Note the difference.
