We will be in Avignon, FR on Nov 4 and need to get to Paris for a 1 pm (1300) flight. Some suggest a taxi fro Avignon to Marseille then a flight from Marseille to Paris. We found a non stop train that morning which leaves Avignon to Paris CDG Airpirt, but the eurail website would not let us purchase tickets! HELP! Is that because it is too early to buy tickets? If we could figure out how to take this train it would really help us.

You cannot book tickets for 4 November because the limit is three months in advance. To get a discount fare, book at tgv-europe.com. Is your 13:00 flight across the Atlantic? If so, you should be at CDG a full three hours before your flight departs. The direct TGV from Avignon arrives at 10:32. That's too late, especially if the train is delayed for any reason. It's wise to spend your last night closer to the city out of which you will be flying so you'll have more than one means of transportation to get to the airport, if necessary. Spend your last night in Paris. You can leave Avignon as late at 20:31 and be in Paris by 23:11.

I was afraid of that! This means we will have to leave a cruise boat a little early to get back to Paris. Thanks for the reply!

Bev, imaybe you could change your flight to come home via Marseilles. the flights bound for the US leave very early in the AM, but maybe your last night could be spent near the Marseilles airport. Just a thought.
