If you had 2 nights to spend would you choose to spend them in between aix or Avignon? And why?
How are you going to be getting around? What do you want to see? Is this an either/or question or can something new be tossed in?
My wife and I are staying 5 days in st. Remy and looking to end our trip somewhere else. We are traveling by train next June
Neither, then. It'd be Nimes. It's more of a hub for rail travel in all directions, it's neglected by North Americans for some reason, and it's compact with a good batch of places to eat in the pedestrian zone. If it had to be one or the other, it's be Avignon. The problem is that you'd wear it out in a day. You could make side runs to Orange or Arles (I'd pick the former). Aix is great if you really know it, but a half-day is all that can keep a general tourist awake.
