I need to buy two tickets on an evening AVE train from Barcelona to Madrid for Wednesday Nov.3 (2010) By my calculations, the 62.5 day lead time for discounts should be around the first of September but I do see trains and prices listed for November available now. I'm seeing prices of either 115 Euro or 135.7 Euro.
Looking out 61, 62, 63 and 64 days from now the prices are exactly the same (115/135.7)
So I'm not seeing any discounts reflected; am I looking at this the wrong way? What is the lowest Barcelona to Madrid fare that might ever be a available?
If you try to purchase, you'll see the discounted prices. I just checked BCN>MAD for Sept 7, 2010 and see Turista prices as low as 46€.
Phil....the regular prices may show, but clicking on the little shopping cart icon doesn't bring up any trains to buy, period, since you're outside the usual travel window. You MAY find some trains listed earlier than usual, so keep trying, but understand that it will only be a few of the many trains per day between Barcelona and Madrid. And the next time you get to the RENFE English site, save yourself a step and click on "purchase" towards the upper right, rather than wasting time with the "passengers-timetables" page.
Ahh - Thank you once again to the Spanish masters!
