We are going to be in Salzburg and Munich around to 8th - 12 of October how will the weather be and is everything open during that time.
Hi Terry, Weather is un-predictable. Will everything be open during that time of year... yes. We've been to Austria and Bavaria in October many, many times. From early Oct. to late Oct. It's our favorite time to travel to these area's. We have experienced terrific weather in general. Daytime temps from the mid 60's to low 80's with chilly nights and early am's. Our experience so far is very little rain. Maybe a handful of rainy days out of our roughly 70 days in Austria and Bavaria since 2001. That said, still be prepared for anything. Paul
We vacationed in Munich and Salzburg in early October. I had a light jacket and occasionally wishing I had a warmer coat. I'd wear a warm coat and dress with wool sweaters for chilly days. Nights are cool, maybe low 50's. On sunny days it does warm up nicely. More typical of our midwest fall days. The beauty of Bavaria will make you forget about the temps, in particular the drive to Salzburg from Munich. And if all else fails they do have stores wear you can buy a warm coat...
According to Rick's weather chart, October is the driest month (fewest days of precipitation, on average, of any month) in Munich. I was there for two weeks in Oct. of 2007, and we didn't have any rain.
