Mary, It's going to be "challenging" to find a room in Salzburg for 3-adults for that price. I was going to suggest This Hotel but a "triple" is clearly above your budget. You probably won't find anything in that price range except for Hostels, and that may mean "splitting" your group (depending on the Hostel), as in many cases males and females stay in different Dorm rooms. I briefly checked the HI Aigner Strasse Hostel and if you can get a booking, they have beds from €21. I believe HI has two properties in Salzburg. If you DO want to stay there, having an inexpensive HI Membership will provide slightly cheaper rates and preferred booking (over non-members). Good luck and happy travels!

We have stayed in Salzburg three times and my best guess is that $70 for a triple rooom is not going to happen anywhere near the city. I did a quick check on Booking.com and Venere.com and the cheapest one they came up with was at the Drei Kreutz. We have stayed there and the old town is walkable from there but just barely. It is a clean basic hotel and the breakfast is included and quite good. Remember that when looking at very cheap prices, they probably do not include brekfast so what you save on the room you may very well spend at a restaurant getting breakfast Whatever you do, move now as triple rooms at low cost are in very short supply anytime. If you have a few extra dollars for dinner, eating inside at the Zum Eulenspiegel on the Getreidegasse near the river was great. Have a good trip

We usually stay at the Star Inn hotel Zentrum. It's a quick walk through the tunnel into Salzburg. It's a basic, cheap hotel, doubtful you'll find something for $70 for 3 people. Even hostels can be more per night for 3 people. You might find something further out of town, but then you'll be spending money on bus or train fare in to town.

even the 21 euro per person doesn't meet the $70 requirement.
