Has anyone ever visited AU LAPIN AGILE in Montmartre? Every trip I made to Paris I hoped to get into the show, but my friends and I never found the time. If you went, what did you think of it? I speak French, and according to other reviewers speaking French is ABSOLUMENT NÉCESSAIRE. Would love to hear what other Francophones have to say
I can speak to that. We went a few years ago. My Wife had been in a local production of Steve Martin's comedy play, "Picasso at the Lapin Agile", so it was a must on her itinerary. Speaking French as you do, it might be enjoyable, but with our limited skill in that language, and the show's reliance on sing-along French favorites, we missed the boat. The show consists of a few of the cast/waiters sitting around a table, trying to the clubby atmosphere of Picasso's time, interspersed with the aforementioned sing-alongs. For your hefty €24 cover charge, you are crammed elbow to elbow at plank tables on hard wooden benches, and served one tiny glass of the most god-awful "wine" that has ever passed over my tonsils. A second insult to your system costs another €7. We considered it a rip off, and left at the first intermission.
