attention canadians-should I book sept flight now?

I have started checking open jaw flights Montreal-Paris, return Marseilles-Montreal and the prices are reasonable but I hesitate to book as I know friends who had a better price last year. Still, with the gas prices increasing, I don't want to pay more later on. what to do?

Your friends had a better price last year? Of course they did. Pricing a flight from Paris to Montreal for this coming April I found the price to be double what I paid for a November Paris to Montreal flight. I found a more reasonable fare with Corsair, but still not as good as last year's fares. Have you tried AirTransat?

I went to Paris at Christmas and I purchased my tickets 1 month before hand and got a really good deal with Air Canada. My advice is to go to Expedia, Travelocity, Air Canada websites and see what they have to offer. Then go and see a travel agent and take your research with you and ask their advice. Sometimes tickets are cheaper farther away but sometimes the tickets are cheaper as you get closer to the departure date. Sometimes Air Canada puts tickets on sale so sign up for their e-mail updates and keep checking their site. I have always found that research and vigilance has paid off for cheaper tickets and better routes.

Air Canada often has sales that only take place for a day or two, you should sign up for the notices. My Dad received a fax one morning and ended up booking a trip for him and my mom to come visit me in April becuase tickets were 1/2 price (about $600 each)
