Attending the French Open Tennis Tournament

My wife and I are major tennis fans, and will be in Paris for the start of the French Open. (May 22 - June 5th I believe). I figure that the opening Sunday will be extremely busy, and we are catching a train to Provence on Wednesday, May 25th - so only a couple of options. We plan on going to the stadium on Monday, May 23rd, and the question is - should we purchase tickets online before we go on our trip, or get them at the gate at the stadium? We have been to the tournament at Indian Wells several times, and just buy tickets for the grounds at the gate. Do they have something similar at Roland Garros, or will we be sorry that we did not get tickets earlier. We are not looking for first class seats. Anybody have suggestions? Thanks,
Ken

It is always a struggle to get tickets for Roland-Garros, as the event is generally sold out within a few hours after the start of ticket sales. However, once in a while new tickets our sold through the official online sales channels, and it is possible to purchase tickets through viagogo, the official ticket exchange. I don't know if any tickets are sold at the gate, but not same day tickets anyway. So purchasing in advance would be the way to go.

Hi Ken I have been to French Open many times. Great Place. I usually buy grounds passes through Championship Tennis Tours on the net. We tried once to purchase tickets at the Gate but none were available. Since your time is limited I suggest you visit the above site and see what they have left. I will be in Paris and I am getting tickets from the above. I checked their site last night and many dates were sold out. They do have upper and lower level stadium seats available. They are much higher than they have been in recent years. Have a great time in Paris on the rest of your trip. EJ
