Is there one ATM bank or vendor to use in Vienna or Salzburg vs another that might be a rip off? or better yet which ones should I stay away from that have excessive fees?

Use ATMs from Banks, let your credit card company know you will be traveling overseas, make sure your card has a Cirrus or PLUS symbol, and the ATMs you are using as well.
Remember that European ATMs only have numerical pads, so make sure to know the numbers of your PIN!
Ask your bank to waive the foreign ATM charge, some banks actually do this!
You will get the exchange rate of the day at all ATMs in Austria.

Thanks for that information, I bank at a credit union so the have no fee to use over seas. I will check to see if the belong to the networks that you mentioned. Thanks for the assistance.

Not a single ATM that I used anywhere in Austria had the capability to print a receipt.

Regarding PIN numbers in Europe-they are all numeric, but most importantly only use 4 digit PINs...change yours at home if you have more than 4 digits.

That is what my pin is now so I'm glad I do not have some long alpha numeric password that I would have to change. Thank for the heads up
