I had no problem using a Bank of America card in a few banks in Barcelona about a month ago, took my 4 digit pin no problem. Was traveling with a friend, she also had no problems and had a card from a very small credit union in texas.

I have VISA debit card from a local credit union, and I had no problem using it anywhere. I used three different banks" ATMs and never had a problem. Have a great time!

I was there in late May -- and my card has a 4 number PIN.

Regular (Spanish) banks use a 4 digit PIN code, and I don't remember my parents ever having had a problem with their US cards when on visit here. I think you'll be fine unless you bank with some strange credit union or such.

Patricia,

Not sure this helps since I'm Canadian, but when I went to Europe, my bank's debit card worked without a hitch: it's a 4-pin card and works with the Cirrus network (which is compatible with the bank network in Europe - and there's a "Cirrus" symbol on the back of my card).

Your bank will be able to answer the question better than we can.

I was there in May and had no problems. I was traveling with a lot of people and no had any problems either. You need to tell your bank that you are going to be there or the bank wont authorize any strange activity.
