My friend and I will be arriving at Amsterdam Schiphol airport on separate airlines - me on Northwest, she on Lufthaunsa. Does anyone know if we will be arriving at the same baggage area? Or of a good place to meet in the arrivals area?

If both flights are transatlantic flights, then you will be arriving at the same baggage area. Schipol is an "open" airport type layout so you can also to go the gate your friend is arriving and wait there. If you prefer to wait in the arrival area-past immigration-baggage-customs, the front of Burger King is the best place to meet up-can't miss it. If you firends flight is not transatlantic, the only place you will be able to meet up is at the Burger King.
