I appreciate all the help I have received on my trip to Arles, France. Next question is how to go about getting rental car for one or two days. Wait til I get there or arrange for a car before departure? A one day rental seems to be going for approximately 80.00$
AutoEurope, Kemwel and Gemut are car rental brokers. You can check prices for the first two companies online. They only arrange for a car rental from the States and from companies such as Avis, Hertz or Europcar. However, they may have a minimal rental of three days. You could call them and see if they can arrange a rental for two days.
A one day rental will be expensive no matter which company you go with. If you are staying in Arles, as your post suggested, there are several companies. If you are close to the train station, there is an Avis right there. To have maximum choice, you might consider going to the Arles train station, taking the SCNF bus direct to the Avignon-TGV station, and renting a car there. The Avignon TGV station is a new suburban one with an enormous open parking lot for every car rental company imaginable. You could, I suppose, simply walk in to one and ask what their best rate for a day rental is...and if the answer is too high, another company is mere steps away.
A one day rental for $80 sounds right. It's worth the investment because there's a lot to see nearby and you need a rental car. The price per day for renting a car doesn't start dropping until you reserve for at least three days. I would suck it up and just rent from Hertz in Arles.
OK so now I am all ready, staying at Hotel Calendal, hiring a car for 2 days and enjoying every minute of it Thanks to all for suggestions
