Hi, I was just looking at Hotwire for Barcelona. I am not sure if I'll do the hotels thru them but I was just wondering about the areas- Barcelona East, Barcelona West, Downtown La Ramblas.Which is a good area to stay at? Thanks.

We stayed half block off Las Ramblas and could walk to everything, can't remember name of street but liked the whole area.

I would also recommend staying near the Las Ramblas area. My best tip for Barcelona is the Flamenco show at LOS TARANTOS. It's in Plaça Reial (17 Barri Gòtic) right off La Rambla. It's on 6E for the approx 30 minute show & very authentic. An exceptional value. We loved it.

Another option is to look further up the Ramblas, We stayed in the Gracia neighborhood at Aparthotel Silver, a block or so from the Fontana metro station. We could hop the metro and stop anywhere along the Ramblas and P. d. Gracia, or just stay in the neighborhood and have a pick of any number of bars and restaurants plus shops.

Regina hotel close Las Ramblas --nice and safe--great breakfast--cost reasonable--easy stroll to most sights
