As I review the various locations to stay in Paris I was wondering if anyone had a recommendation as to which is nicest? Quaint? Interesting? or ???
I think you can't go wrong in the 4th, 5th or 6th. All are centrally located and within walking distance to many things.
Defintely Left Bank. We have done 5 trips to 6th Arr. and it's walking distance to most everything, near Bateau Mouche for boat rides and also the Metro. In sum - great location. Plus - lot's of "Parisian" charm. Have fun!
If money were no object, I'd stay on Ile St. Louis. The location very nice, quaint, and interesting. Hotel Deux Iles or Hotel Lutece are good options.
For less expensive hotel options, I like the Marais!
Just got back 2 weeks ago and loved the 5th Latind Quarter. Nice small hotel on rue Thenard close walking distance to Notre Dame, Louvre, D'Orsay Museum. and the Metro just around the corner.
There are actually many neighborhoods that are great in Paris, good options can be Montmartre, Marais, Latin Quarter, Ile Saint Louis, Le Louvre-Opera-Bastille (it's right bank but it's the area for literary pubs for example)-- if you want to be off the beaten path, try Bercy: it's close enough to the places you'll want to visit but has a completely different feel, you can also opt for canal st martin (less tourists, but more authentic cafés and all)
