Hello,
My wife and I will be traveling with our toddler and my parents this summer to Madrid. We will be using metro and walking to most sites in Madrid. We are looking at apartments to rent, however, Madrid is so large its hard to figure out a good area to stay. Our preference would be somewhere where noise isn't an issue, yet close to parks, sites etc via walking or metro. Thanks!

the del sol area is pretty central. it's about mid way between the palace/garden and prado and pretty close to plaza major. its also on the metro line so you can use it very easily. there are a lot of places for food/drink in this area, it's pretty fun in the evenings.

A good source of information: www.madridman.com Something in the Gran Via Park Retiro area would be my first choice. Maybe the Salamanca area also.
