I am planning a trip to Belgium in mid September. My itinerary is not final, but it looks like I will have two days between being in Bastogne (for Battle of the Bulge touring) and Brussells. I would like to stay in a nice B&B somewhere in the Ardennes (preferably under $150 a night, or even better under $100). Most of the trip will be in cities and towns, so I thought it would be nice to experience nature for a couple of days. We like history, walking/hiking, small towns and villages and don't care about night life. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I forgot to say that we will have a car, though I plan to ditch it somewhere between Bastogne and Brussells.
Dinant is one of the prettiest towns in the region. There's not much to do there, but worth a quick visit.
Thanks, Tom. I will look into Dinant. I am not so much interested in lots of sites as places to take long walks/hikes and enjoy the scenery.
"I am not so much interested in lots of sites as places to take long walks/hikes and enjoy the scenery." Then that would probably exclude Dinant. Not much hiking to be had in the immediate area.
