Aqua Dome near Innsbruck

Has anyone here been to the Aqua Dome thermal spa in Längenfeld, near Innsbruck? What is it like? The photos look amazing. We would go for the swimming, not the spa experience. Also wondering how convenient it would be without a car, and whether it is a reasonable plan to stay at a nearby (less expensive) hotel instead of the Aqua dome hotel. Thanks for your input!

Yes, it is near Sölden, so skiers use it too. I just said "near Innsbruck" as that is how it is advertised (it is an hour away, I believe). I saw photos in a full-page ad in the New Yorker and that piqued my interest. We don't do "spa" stuff (sauna, hot stone therepy, etc.) but we do enjoy swimming in beautiful pools, and they have several, including a saltwater pool.

OK. I just wanted to mention that we spent 4 nights in Soelden many years ago. The Oetztal is a very scenic valley with fantastic alpine scenery. We're looking to visit again next fall. Paul

Yes, we were there in January 2011. Really, really neat. Several large indoor pools, with connections to outdoor pools with a circulating current like you are in a river. Indoor water slide beware! People are released into the slide via a timer, not an exit recorder. Result, if you get stuck inside, someone will be crashing into you in about 15 seconds. There is a restaurant inside, you pay with your entry pass, so no need to have money while inside. You can pay after you get dressed when you exit the water park. Even in January it was quite pleasant outside with heated pools, some with salt water. There are lots of hotels in the area for all budgets. We got there from Soelden via public bus. Bus fare was reimbursed by AquaDome.

thanks, Samthat is great to know. I am trying to decide if we should include a stop there on our way from Munich to the Dolomites, traveling by public transport. I'll have to propose it to the group and see what they say!
