It's a group of four we haven chosen the city or country we have enough money to pay for a top hotel but we kind want an apartment what should we do.

For Madrid (and other cities in Spain) check out www.madridman.com Excellent source for the information you seek. As to your other post, Madrid would be my choice, with side trip to Toledo (over night) via the AVE train, 25 minutes to get there from Madrid.

Sorry I also forgot to mention which part of Madrid should we stay in it has to be a good area. In barcelona I know the areas but not Madrid. Thanks for the help !

Rafel...I have been in the other seasons, spring and fall, but not in December. I know from my travels that the weather there is basically the same as we have in the Atlanta area. I would recommend some where along the Gran Via area - central location. Specifically either the hostal Phillipe V or the Hostal Monte Carlo. Both in the same building at 15 (17?) Gran Via. From there you can walk or take the underground metro anywhere in the city.

I've been to Madrid in December...it was over Christmas holidays and lots of things were closed. Our Christmas dinner included a taxi drive all over town looking for open restaurant with none to be found. We ended up eating almonds (bought at market the day before) and Hershey bars! What an experience. I prefer B&B's when I travel but, sometimes hard to find in big cities. Apartments are great if you plan on cooking at home otherwise, I'd do the hotel thing. You get advice, maps, meals, etc. Have a great trip!

Thanks peg but I am planning to do rome and doing a B and B its amazing and of course breakfeast. If anything there resturant will be open. By the way ho was weather in madrid. Thabks again
