i am looking for appartment accommodation in Madrid for our family with two children. close to the city centre but not so close it is noisey. any suggestions for websites.
If you just Google 'vacation rentals Madrid', you will find many. I have also been looking for apartments in Madrid. The ones I find most promising are VRBO, Home Away, Spain-Holiday and Spain . I am likely going to rent one from Spain . I also use the Slow Travel website for reviews of apartments throughout Europe. Trip Advisor also has apartment reviews.
Correction to my reply - It is Spain Select. - not just Spain...
thanks for the suggestions, many don't take 2 night rentals but I did find a few on airbnb.com. Neighbourhood wise, what do you think about Lavapies Plaza area. I have read it described as working class and ethnic but is it safe? the reviews on tripadvisor seem okay.
Andrea, You also might try airbnb.com. They have lots of private rentals of all different sizes. We rented a flat in Stockholm a few years ago and it worked out nicely...saved us a ton of money.
I'll second airbnb...so many more room and apartment options than your typical lodging site, and prices are usually the best you'll find anywhere. I can also recommend a great hostal (not a hostel but a small hotel) right in the city center with quad rooms that can accommodate 4 for around €85 per night. The place is Hostal Acapulco in Plaza del Carmen, just up and over from Puerta del Sol. It's located on a single floor of a bigger building with two other hotels. Very clean, big, big bathroom, and a balcony overlooking the plaza. Free internet in lobby. I would stay there again. Check it out on tripadvisor...great reviews...can't go wrong.
