Looking for apartment rentals in Madrid. What websites do you recommend to search or if anyone has specific places they've stayed & liked; to assist in our search. Trying to compare cost vs hotel for 8 nights, 2 couples will be traveling. Thanks
We only stayed in a hotel in Madrid - but stayed in two other places in Spain in apartments and have used apartments in several other European countries. I always check Home Away, VRBO and Slowtrav.com website - and am now even looking some on Trip Advisor. I also just google 'vacation rentals' and the city in which I am wanting to rent. I definitely believe apartments are much less expensive than hotels, especially if you are willing to have breakfast and snack items in your kitchen. I have also cooked simple meals in the more expensive countries, i.e. Switzerland.
After staying in an apartment one time, I was unwilling to go back to hotels...
The Prado apartments come highly recommended on Tripadvisor and elsewhere. http://www.apartmentservice.com/search/Spain/Madrid/propertyid53212 We did not stay there but would have had we spent more time in Madrid. Looking at ramdom dates in april, a 1-bdr. (with sofa bed in the LR for the other couple) is 147 per night; a 2-bdr. is 221 per night. The former is definitely cheaper than 2 hotel rooms; the latter maybe not. (We paid 92 euro for a very nice large room in th ewell-located Husa Paseo del Arte. The choice depends in part on how much privacy and autonomy you want. We love apartments as we like to make our own breakfast (hotel breakfasts in Spain are expensive!) and like the extra space. With 8 nights, you might consider spending a night or 2 in Toledo instead of making it a daytrip. It is a charming walled city with lots to see, and 2 of our best dinner experiences in Spain were in Toledo. Try Casa de los Mozarabes for nice, well-located and inexpensive apartments.
Check www.madridman.com for links to apartments. I have stayed in two different locations and both were good..
We used an apartment rented from Rosa Gomez. Wonderful apartment.

We (2 couples) used Friendly Rentals 2 years ago in both Madrid and Barcelona. Had good luck in both places, and no complaints at all about the apartments or dealing with the agency. Have a great time in Madrid Ruth
