Apartments in Berlin

My husband and I will be in Berlin for a week in October. We are thinking about renting an apartment rather than a hotel. I have found several sites, VRBO, Home Away, Holiday flats-Berlin and Trip Advisor all whom have rentals. I am overwhelmed. I think we would like to be in the Mitte or Tiergarten area, and near cafes, markets etc. We would also like a balcony or terrace if possible. However, I am open to suggestion. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks

I'm already checking out places for next spring and found this website: http://www.holiday-rentals.co.uk/
I clicked on the Berlin-Mitte/Tiergarten rentals and found several I liked. This is the location I prefer, as well, since it is so centrally located.

We used this website and were really happy with the service and the choices. You can pick your neighborhood, the amenities you want, and check availabilty very easily. Though it was 2 years ago, we only paid 48 € per night, which I thought was a bargain. A hostel would have cost more than that for 2 people.

Stayed in a nice apt right across fr Zions Church (Zions Kirche) a few wks ago. I think it's considered in Mitte. 2 br & bath, kit & living rm. elevator, sm balcony off kit; only problem is noise. There are several sm restaurants & a bar on ground level in our block. We found neighborhood charming & always travel w/ ear plugs & eye masks. Nice supermarket 2 blks away & several sm places for milk, croissants etc on corners. My sis rented it thru WaytoStay.com -- may have been #045367
