Apartment rentals in Paris

I've heard some very alarming news about tourist renting apartments in Paris only to find that they have been ripped off by the broker posing as a legitimate realty agent. How can i be assured of the reputable ones? Who should I rent from?

Stephan, yes this can happen, but its in no way unique to Paris,, happens in most places,, including the good ole usa.. lol ( great apartment for rent in NY,, only 100 bucks a night for luxury loft ") .lol There are however many well known and reputable companies that have good reviews. Renting an apartment does require a few more steps then getting a hotel( a larger deposit , often non refundable etc) and apartments have very severe cancellation policies( like no refunds, lol ) There are literally a dozen good agencies, i am using Paris Best Lodge as it is very well reviewed, and I
have never read any negatives about them.. Whatever agency you choose to use just google the name and word Reviews. Do your homework

We've used cross-pollinate.com, and they do not require a large deposit.

We are trying http://www.airbnb.com/ for both London and Paris for our upcoming trip in June'12.... so far the accommodations look very good. They were recommended in one of these RS threads. I will let you know once we return how it went, but I trust that it will work great! Good luck!

Used Vip (vacations in paris). Tey are an American company and are Better Business Bureau affiliated. That gave me Huge peace of mind.
Worth every penny that I knew I had legal recourse in American.
