We are renting an apartment in Paris. Our agent talked about insurance for the apartment. Has anyone else ever purchased renters' insurance? Thanks!
Thank you. It was not required but was 'suggested' by the rental agency.
Actually, this is a question, not an answer: what would that insurance cover? Your own belongings and to what limit? That would be like renter's insurance and I would turn it down. If it covers the apartment's contents, like there was a fire, etc. wouldn't that be covered by the owner's home owner's insurance? I wonder if your agent has the answer to these questions or perhaps someone on this forum?
Thank you Steve. That information is exactly what I was told as well. The question still remains for me - which is, Is it really necessary? I was quoted aa fee of 3.5% of the rental cost for the insurance. While not expensive I hate to throw money away on something that is most likely not needed.
It was required when I rented an apartment. It was also pretty cheap as I recall.
