Apartment in Provence

My husband and I are spending 2 weeks in Provence in Sept. We are looking for a one bedroom apartment with kitchen as my husband loves to cook (lucky me!). Would like to stay in Aix, Arles or Avignon, but we are very flexible and would consider other locations in Provence. Thanks for your suggestions. Judy

Aix is a great university town but is on the eastern edge of Provence and thus more travel time is required to visit the other areas in Provence. Avignon is a bigger city in north central Provence but works as a home base, better if you're not staying at accommodations in the central core with a rental car (traffic and parking difficulties). Arles is smaller and works well as a home base to see most of Provence. Use trains to visit the cities, parking is a hassle, and use a car to see where the trains don't go.

My husband and I stayed in I'sle sur le Sorgue at Le Pigeonnier last fall. It is a one bedroom gite with a kitchen. It does not have an oven but I cooked a few times while we were there. It was very nice and very reasonable in cost. RS mentions it in his France book. We traveled to Avignon, Arles and several towns in the Luberon area while we were there. I thought it was a great location to see a lot of Provence. I did a full review of the gite on the Slow Travel website, if you want to read more.
I am sure you will have a great time.
