Hi all: We are traveling to Europe in 2014 and I want to rent apartments as we go, rather than hotels. We need the space. :) I have found a lot of great ones in Italy on vrbo, but I am having trouble finding a good place in Munich. Can anyone recommend an apartment there, or another site I can look on (besides vrbo and homeaway)? We want at least one bedroom, possibly 2, and sleeping 4. Thanks!!
Kim
No recommendations but both Booking.com and Airbnb.com have apartment options.
You might also try Flip Kay and Holiday Lettings. You can try googling Munich vacation rentals. Slow Europe has lots of vacation rental links.
My experience with vacation rentals in Germany was a great one. They were very reasonable and there were lots to choose from - I only stayed in small towns but am guessing Munich will have a wide variety.
Hi Kim: I can recommend this website: http://www.munich-appartments.com/ In May 2011, a party of 5 adults stayed in the apartment called D'Alex New York. There were 2 bedrooms with doors and one person slept on the sofa in the living room. The apartment was very clean, in a nice neighborhood, a 5 minute walk to the U-bahn station, and there was a very good restaurant literally right across the street. The apartment was well-equipped, including a laundry machine, and ran us (including the cleaning fee) jut over 100 Euro a night. I found the company owner, Alex, to be very easy to deal with and quite prompt to reply to inquiries.
We appreciated being in a residential neighborhood without a lot of tourist commotion, but it may not be what you are looking for. I didn't have an opportunity to look at any of the owner's other properties. Once you're on the main page of his website, if you scroll to the bottom & click the Apartments link, it will show you all the choices.
Thanks! I ended up booking one of Alex's other apartments, the Santa Clara. Saw him on a bunch of sites with good reviews. Thanks for the recommendation!
