I recommend that you go on the Barcelona Trip Advisor forum with your question. We noticed some streets within an otherwise perfectly acceptable neighborhood near Las Ramblas that would not be satisfactory for a stay. You need local expert advice.

We used Habitat Apartments last October. They were waiting for us at the apartment when we arrived and were really professional. Our apartment was located on Rambla de Catalunya in Eixample. It is a busy street but very central and safe. The apartment was in good order and clean. Everything I needed was within walking distance and if I was tired the subway was close by. Enjoy Barcelona!

My sisters rented an apartment through vrbo.com this summer, i helped them choose it, they were very happy with the apartment, the location and the owner. It is in El Born area, vrbo number 219513.
