Leaving in 21 days for France, Germany, Austria. Anything going on now or possibility in those countries that could cause problems with travel plans, like rail strikes, etc? Saw that UK just ended rail strike. Will be using several trains in all those countries.

Tony, there is ALWAYS the possibility that something could cause problems when it comes to transportation in Europe. You just have to be inventive and work around the difficulties if they arise.

Having been in Paris during the rail and metro strike in the fall of 2007 I can attest that these strikes can make things a little uncomfortable and can really mess with your plans. Normally they don't last long but the one in 2007 lasted several days and really created chaos, as much for the citizens of Paris as for visitors.
There is really not much you can do except go with the flow. We walked a lot more and had to eliminate a couple of planned excursions. You just have to remain flexible and realize these things are out of your hands.
