Anyone been to Seville?

Thanks to all the feedback I received on Paris. Very helpful. I was speaking with a friend about it and she asked me if I would consider Seville. She's been to both Seville and Paris and had nothing but great things to say.

It really depends on how much time you have. Sevilla is a magnificent city, rich in culture, and lots of things to see and do. But I doubt I'd spend more than about 3 days there at a stretch....a long haul from Paris just for 3 days. There is so much to see and do in and around Paris, I'd spend a week there, renting an apartment. If you have a second week, travel Spain...try the Madrid (Toledo), Sevilla, Granada triangle. Otherwise, I'd wait for a separate visit. P.S. US Airways flies Philadelphia-Madrid direct.

If we go, it's one or the other. I think the weather is a factor. I can go to Paris when it's warmer. In Feb, I fear the weather will deter me from seeing all there is to see. Also, can we sit outside the cafes in Paris in Feb? I will make it to Paris one day just don't know that Feb is ideal but I really want to go away to Europe for my day!

February can still be a bit chilly in Seville -- not Philadelphia chilly, but cool, nonetheless. On the other hand, Spring will definitely be in the air, and the pre-Semana Santa buzz will be perceptible. Also, if your trip is at the beginning of the month, you might consider a short train ride down to Cadiz for one of the wildest Carnivales (Mardi Gras) on the European mainland.

For a quick late winter getaway, my choice would be Seville.

It would be the week of Feb 12th. Yes, I heard about Cadiz. That was one of the reasons we were thinking of checking it out.

We enjoyed Seville but 2 days is enough to see the place. We would second the suggestion of remaining in Paris, as your time is limited and there is a fair amount of travel involved. Paris cannot be absorbed in several weeks, perhaps never.
Save Seville for another trip.
If you go to Spain, Cadiz is an excellent choice for that time of year

I'd vote for Spain over Paris any day! And I suspect you are right about the weather in February there.

You can sit out in the cafes in Paris in February...but bundle up....many are now using those giant propane-fired heaters. But overall, February is not a month to be sitting outside for long in Paris. If it's one or the other, do Spain, and include Sevilla in your itinerary. Did I mention US Air flies direct Philly-Madrid?

The weather is not likely to be good in either place, but certainly warmer in Seville. When i went there i spent 2 days just walking around aimlessly from cafe to cafe. This is a gorgeous city even at 40 degrees C, but at 17-6 degree C (ave high and low), I am not so sure.

The winter is good in Paris for catching the winter culture scene (opera, symphony, ballet) and visiting museums. Weekends are dodgy for museums. Try going in the weekdays to avoid the crowds. It can get really windy and nasty in Paris this time of year.
