Hi! I generally plan organize every detail for my trips[INVALID]booking the roundtrip flights, hotels in each city, inter-city travel, etc, of course w/help from my RS guidebook! [INVALID]- but I was curious about a website I found recently: Europeandestinations.com. I set up a "test" trip through that site, and got a price quote. I then priced that same trip piece by piece and the site came out about $600 cheaper than doing it by myself.... I was just wondering if any of you had used this site, or one like it, before with any luck? BTW, I am thinking about a Prague, Budapest, Vienna travel route (3 nights in each city) in Spring 2011. Thanks in advance for your help!
There have been several discussions in recent months about Europeandestinations.com. Go to the top of the question listings here and click on the topic "Getting answers to your questions". Follow the instructions there and you will find numerous listings on this site, with several responses each. You could go to any one of the responses and Private Message people to ask about their personal experiences.
Since April, 2004, I have made four approximately 2 week trips to Germany (13 nights average). My total expenses were $7500, including all expenses (lodging, transportation, food, misc) on the ground plus round trip to get there, $1875 per trip. Can Europeandestination beat that; I doubt it. It would be a little difficult to approach that today, since airfare is so high, but then, the Euro was about $1.45 for two of those trips. You failed to say the length of the trip(s) on which you saved $600.
Lee, I was looking at doing a 10 day total trip, 3 nights in each city and 1 travel day. I had gotten a quote from the website of about $1600, which included roundtrip airfare from my home city, 9 nights of hotel lodging, and the three ICE train trips btwn each city. Like I said, when I went to price things piece by piece to compare, even using dicount websites, after adding the airfare and the hotels, I was already $600 past the quote I had gotten (& I hadnt included the train fare yet). I just was wondering if anyone here had used a site like this with any luck, ie., did they have problems and were they resolved?
As I said before, check the prior discussions. There is a lot of information there.
With advance purchase you can get three trips by ICE, with regional trains to get to/from the ICE stations, in Germany, from anywhere to anywhere, for ~$120, total ($40 per trip per person).
