Any issues with housetrip.com?

I see the note on tripadvisor where someone had a bad experience with housetrip.com. There is a lengthy reply from housetrip. It's hard to know what to trust. What did you think about the housetrip response? Have you heard other complaints about housetrip?

Karl, you just looked at an old post, Go on the forums( in this case the Paris forum, but obviously company reputation may be simalar from office to office ),, as i said there is a NEW thread on right now. It is called " avoid avoid avoid Housetrip Cowboys" .. the op does get mocked for their bad grammar( tripadivisor forum is a bit rougher then here) but, the general conscensus was that if OP(means original poster) had done more research they would have not used Housetrip to begin with. Personally I don't like to take chances when paying 100's euros up front, and I would not like to arrive to a problem. Seems there are more then enough good companies to deal with,, going through a middle man agency seems a bit unreliable. I would also go on the Spain forums ( on tripadvisor you can even go to specific forums for each city!) and flat out ask for referrals from posters as to rental companies they have used that were good.

Karl, go to tripadvisor.com Paris forums, there is a thread on it right now,, and it isn't a good report. Also, please google "Housetrip rental reveiws",, research carefully, once you pay up front its hard to get money back .
