Just wondering if there are any areas to avoid, particularly in the evening in Vienna? Also, we are booked to stay at the starlight suiten hotel on renngasse. Does anyone know of this hotel or area? It seems to get decent reviews on tripadvisor.

... the above link provides some useful information for the area. We would add Esterhazy Keller. Just inquire locally for the exact location. Our favorite hotel in the area is Hotel Graben on Dorotheergasse (It's just steps away from the famous shopping street called The Graben... which means "moat" -- ages ago it actually was a moat). Vienna is one of the world's safest cities ... and we have had no experience (nor even heard of any) that would contradict the claim... Gute Reise! P
