I am a big fan of Andre Rieu and have wanted to attend one of his concerts for several years. He has a concert in Saarbrucken, Germany on 9/12 and I will be travelling from Paris to Frankfurt on that day. Easy to get to Saarbrucken from Paris so I was excited about going to go to the concert. When booking a ticket, I find they would charge me 34.90 euros to mail one ticket to the US. Same ticket mailed to Germany is 4.90 euros. Did not buy the ticket as I thought 30 euros extra for mailing less one ounce was robbery. That put the ticket I wanted to 116 euros. I passed on the concert but found it interesting that they would charge such a high fee.
Hi Tony,
Could you phone the ticket office and explain that you are in the U.S. and will pick up the ticket at the "will call" when you arrive for the concert.
It probably wouldn't be quite as exciting but he's also going to be on tour in the US in April, May, and June.
In 2007 we attended Andre Rieu's concert in his home town of Maastricht. I bought the tickets from ticketmaster.nl and there was only a small charge to have the tickets mailed to Canada. Hope they haven't put their prices up - would give anything (well almost) to see another of his concerts in Europe - so much more atmosphere than seeing him here, which I have done 5 times! The Europeans know how to enjoy their music!
We have tickets to see Andre Rieu in Sacramento, CA on June 17. As mentioned above, it's probably not as great as seeing him in the EU but we are really looking forward to the concert.
Tony,
He's performing quite a few concerts in the U.S. this year also, so if the tickets in Europe are too expensive, try to book some here instead.
You'll enjoy the concert, they are a lot of fun!!!
Cheers!
None of his US dates are close to me in 09. If you have ever seen one of his DVD's from his concerts in Europe, especially Maastricht "The Homecoming" or "Live in Vienna", there is so much difference in audience participation. I still may try Saarbrucken but felt getting a ticket sent here was extremely overcharged.
Shipping charges for tickets to go outside the country are outragous anywhere. We tried to get tickets for a Knicks game in NY. A discounted $15 seat in the nosebleeds would have $40 in shipping fees to Canada added, no "will-call" allowed, no shipping to our hotel in NY alowed either (has to be the billing address of your cc).
I guess we'll see what we can pick up next week when we are actually in town.
However, I often order tickets for an event in Germany online as a gift for my father. So far I've either been able to arrange for "will-call" or for shipping to his German address. The latter usually requires a phone call and is seldom possible through the set online process when billing and shipping addresses aren't the same. One time I was allowed to print out tickets on my printer at home (Cirque du Soleil).
