Andalucia august 2010

Hello everyone!

I see you are pretty pro on planning and suggesting trips..so i'd like to propose you the one I'm thinking for this summer... any critic/suggestion is greatly accepter...I will be travelling with my gf, with train and buses, backpacking...

starting in Tangier, i will be arriving the 7.8 in the morning at 8.30 and leaving the next day 8.8 with the ferry at 21 to Tarifa. At tarifa i'd stay the following day 9.8, and then the 10.8 i'd take a bus to malaga, where i would only spend some hrs of the afternoon (since they told me is not really worth it), and then in the evening take a bus to nerja. I'd be staying in nerja for full day of the 11.8. the 12.8 in the morning i would take a bus to granada where i would stay for that day 12.8 and the day after 13.8. Then, the morning of the 14.8 i would be going to sevilla and stay there that day 14.8 and the day after 15.8. Then the morning of the 16.8 i would be going to cordoba and stay there for 1 night. the 17.8 morning i would be going from cordoba to toledo. the 18.8 i would leave toledo in the afternoon for madrid, where i would be staying the 18/19/29/21 of august.

A friend suggested me to cancel tangier and tarifa, to fly directly to granada and from there head to nerja, then Ronda, Frontera, and go back to my original trip on Seville, Cordoba, toledo and madrid...

Which one of the two u would recomend? My only concern of the second one is that I'd touch the sea only in nerja..

If you have any suggestions for improving my itinerary, also with respect to the time i spend in each place, or like small nice towns that are worth visiting, please let me know, since i will be travelling in bus and I'm pretty flexible.

Thank you very much

Manuel

I can only comment on some aspects. Your time in Granada is just right. Make sure you have your tickets reserved for La Alhambra well in advance for the full day you will be there. Try to get a morning entry.

One thing to consider is to stay an extra night in Sevilla and do Cordoba as a day trip. I get the feeling you are younger and if so, you'll probably enjoy the night life in Sevilla more than somewhat sleepy Cordoba. It also gives you an extra day without moving around.

Some people suggest doing Toledo as a day trip from Madrid, but I think it's worth staying overnight. It has a lot more to offer than can be seen in just a few hours.

I would tend to agree with your friend. By travelling westward from Granada, you can save some bus-time allowing you to visit Ronda and Frontera (or other Pueblos Blancos) on your way to Sevilla.

Buen viaje!!!
