Are Amsterdam Strippenkaart for tram and metro still available or is there a new system?
Same old. If it ain't broke... They still haven't rid the city of all the drainless urinal enclosures. I'd like to see a new system for that.
The Strippenkaarts have been officially discontinued. They've been replaced by a new smart-debit card system called the OV-chipkaart; it's similar to London's Oyster Card. http://tinyurl.com/lnbkpv http://tinyurl.com/36dtmtx
Wow, when did that happen Michael? I was using a paper strip just last September.
June 3, 2010 the strip tickets were officially discontinued.
The 'Strippenkaart' can no longer be used in Amsterdam and Rotterdam, but may still be used in (most) other parts in the Netherlands. The strippenkaart is valid until 12 months after a price change (usually every 1 January). The 'OV-chipkaart' can be used in most parts of the Netherlands, but not on some regional trains in the northern part of the Netherlands.
