Are there any recommended short (up to 3 day) tulip tours (water preferred)for late April. Want to do Madrid, Sevilla, Grenada, Barcelona by train early May - any recomended tours? Know about Renfe site for trains

Some of your Spanish destinations--well, Seville-Granada--might be better served by bus. The coaches are nice! Don't rule it out of hand.

Locaboat.com has self-drive cruisers you can take along the canals for anywhere from three days to a couple of weeks. Other companies probably do as well. It's a bit different, but very easy to do, even if you've never been around boats, canals, or locks.
