We are staying in the Jordaan area of Amsterdam and are looking to go dinner somewhere good our last night. Does anyone have any places they like? Thanks
It's just outside of Jordaan but this small place caters to the locals: http://www.buffet-amsterdam.nl On the same street as the Anne Frank House is the famous Pancake Bakery restaurant. It's very touristy, but also a lot of fun: http://www.pancake.nl/
Also outside of the Jordaan area, however, easily walkable and on a quiet side street, is the Cafe Toussaint; upscale, outside eating, packed with locals and listed in DK's Top 10 and TripAdvisor. We had a very good dinner there this past May, in fact, one of the best dinners we had while in the EU this last trip. You can sit on a round bench outside and sip wine or drink beer while waiting for a table.
i'll look into these places. Meanwhile, has anyone been to any ristaffels in the area?
We enjoyed a rijstafel meal. Very interesting. Also very easy if you are into indian food, and/or are amenable to unusual cuts. Eg liver in peanut sauce. they serve more than you could ever want to eat, so if one dish doesnt appeal, skip it and try the others. Sorry did not remember the name, but they all should be good, and better than we can get here
the best food I ate in Amsterdam was at the rice table restaurants which are all over town.
