I am a little confused about the musuem cards for Amsterdam. We will be there only a very short time, and hope to see: Anne Frank's - with a reservation (?) Van Gogh Rijksmuseum and maybe the Dutch Resistance Museum
If that's all we can see, should we get a card and if so, which one? Seems there's more than one. Thanks
If those are the only museums you will be visiting, no card will be cost effective. Anne Frank and the Rijks isn't included with the Iamsterdam card.
I don't have all the details in front of me, but when I was there in April 2012, it would have been very hard to make an iAmsterdam Card pay off. I got great value from my Netherlands Museum Card, as it was about €45, good for a whole year for many museums all over the country. But I was there 10 days and went to multiple cities; if you're only seeing a few museums, it won't be worthwhile.
What about the lines - the advertising talks about going to the front of the line - however, at Anne Frank's I guess you can make a reservation.
We have stood in line at the Van Gogh and Rijks but not more than fifteen minutes at any one time. You might get to meet someone interesting to talk to while you are standing in line. The Dutch Resistance Museum has no lines. We have never been to the Frank house and I don't see any need to after visiting the Resistance Museum.
Check out the Amsterdam Holland Pass which has sev options. I found out about it on amsterdam.info/amsterdam-holland-pass/
