Has anyone ever tried to book lodging in Amsterdam on Priceline.com and used the option "name your own price" Tom

Hi Tom, many people do this. Check out the Amsterdam Forum at TripAdvisor and search "4 star" and "5 star" for lengthy threads on the topic. Word to the wise, be sure to check the most recent posts as those prices change often. There was time, a year ago, when Priceline's NYOP'ers were getting 5 star hotels for less than $100 per night. Those prices are gone but those threads will give you all the info you want. Also, I highly recommend their forum for general Amsterdam info, those folks are incredibly understanding, helpful and entertaining. The local Destination Experts in Amsterdam are amazingly helpful.
