Patty, it would be helpful if you tell us what "budget" means in your terms, in dollars or in euros. You'll likely get more responses if you do.

What part of Amsterdam, how long, budget?

Budget pricing. They will be in Amsterdam for two days. Central location is best--near all the highlights. Thank you for your help.

I can recommend the Quentin Arrive Hotel (about 90 euros per night for a room for 2 people, 3-night minimum stay required) and Frederic Rent-A-Bike (they have a number of properties; we stayed at Frederic's Parents' Place for 70 euros per night for a room for 2 people).

Look at airbnb.com, tripadvisor.com, b&b in amsterdam google search, and priceline bid might not be bad. I got the Movenpick, a 4* for $80 per night. It is a 15-20 minute walk to downtown Amsterdam.
