Amsterdam Layover

My husband and I have a 17 hour layover in Amsterdam (arrival 4:00 p.m., departure 9:00 am.). Could I get advice for what our options are? Should we stay at a hotel near the airport or go into Amsterdam? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks!

The train in the basement of the airport will take you to the city center in 20 minutes. You should book a hotel across from the train station and just start walking toward the Dam.
Needless to say, a night in Amsterdam can be quite an experience. Grab all the gusto, and enjoy the place.

For just one night, I would stay at the Ibis Hotel connected to Centraal Station. The train from Centraal to the airport runs around the clock.
The Anne Frank house is usually open until 9pm every night. For some fun night life check out the Boom Chicago improv comedy club.

When will you be there? In the summertime it stays light until quite late so you can see a lot. In Amsterdam it's so easy and fast to get to town from the airport. If you want to see the Ann Frank house you can buy tickets in advance online or you can wait and buy them there. It is well worth going to.

I stayed at the Citizen M which is a five minute walk from the airport terminal. You could check into the hotel, spend the evening checking out the town, get back to the hotel in time for a good night's sleep and catch your flight in the morning.
