Amsterdam in June?Hotels booked already.

Thanks to those who recommended hotels with elevator near museums. When I tried to book for the beginning of June the sites all said there were no rooms available. Is there something happening then? Do they not book this far in advance? Or am I just too late?
Thanks for any help.

There is a fairly new DoubleTree hotel next to the Centraal train station. It might be worth a look.

"Or am I just too late?" Probably entirely too early.

Have you tried the Hotel Fita....very close to museums ,is very clean, has a fantastic breakfast, and it used to have free calls to the US.

I just went to the Hotel Aalders site and they have double rooms for June 16-17. The Aalders is a great hotel right near the Rijksmuseum and does have an elevator. Here's the link to their site, which also has an email contact address. http://www.hotelaalders.nl/en/

Use www.hrs.com to check out hotels and prices. Put in elevators as an amenity, which will then filter out hotels that don't have them.

You are most likely too early for many hotels. If you really have your heart set on a particular place, e-mail them and ask when they open reservations for your dates.

Fran , I think you are just too early. Alot of smaller hotels in Europe seem to open up reservations only 6-8 months in advance. I would wait, short list 3-4 that really interest you , and try again in a month or two. If leaving yourself without a reservation makes you nervous, book something ( if you find something that will take a reservation now) but make sure you read and understand the cancellation policy , many hotels will let you cancel without penalty within a certain time frame. Do be careful if you find a " special " or "discount" " early booking rate" that has you prepay, those are usually non cancellable and non refundable.

You all gave great suggestions. Part of the problem is that I don't have my flight yet so I am playing with the need of being flexible with my dates...which should be about 2nd of June arriving the third. I will make a short list and write to the hotel.
Thanks again.

You can always find rooms in Amsterdam. But it may not be at a price you consider reasonable. Prices have skyrocketed in recent years with UK tourists streaming in for long weekends. And hotels/B&B's with elevators are not always possible there at the price I want to pay. As long as you're on a tram line, you can get anywhere in the city in 15 minutes. Anywhere in the city proper is an acceptable destination. Last two trips, we've stayed in the southern suburbsAmsterdam Zuid out by the Olympic Stadium. Unfortunately, many B&B's have been converted to condos. Hotel Beethoven is reasonably priced.
The absolute best accommodation we've ever had in Europe was out at the airport at Hotel Schipol. The rooms are huge. http://www.hotelschiphol.nl/en/ They drop you at the airport where you catch a 15 minute train into the center city.

I stayed at the RHO Hotel adjacent to Dam Square last year and it was excellent. Close to everything. Museums, Anne Frank House, Red light district, excellent cafes and resaurants etc. http://www.rhohotel.com/ Rene's Croissant right down the street. Superb! And if you like great Chinese food, The Golden Chopsticks restaurant is right down the street. Ate there 3 times last July it was so delicious. Have a great time

Like others have already stated, you may just be trying to book too early. I ran into the same problem with booking hotels in Europe, but found out that I was successful if I called or went to the website directly to the hotel rather than through a booking agency. I agree with Tom above; i.e. Hotel Aalders. We stayed there the last time we were in Amsterdam and liked it so much that we booked it again for this coming April.
