Looking for recommendation or referral < 120 Euro per night hotel or B&B at West Amsterdam near canals, within walking distance to main drag and central station. Going in early October for 4 nights.

try priceline.com. In April I snagged a 4-star for June for $60 (about $75 w/taxes).

try www.booking.com The 3 of us booked a room at the Abba Hotel(90e) which was very basic, but had a good location, included breakfast and was the same cost but more private, than if we each had paid for a hostel. Our room had a nice patio looking in on the interior private yard of surrounding buildings. What's good about Booking is that you can cancel, but read the fine print of dates, without penalty and a lot of the hotels cut their prices as the dates get closer.
