Amsterdam Hotel for 3 People

I am flying into Amsterdam with my husband and daughter and will only be spending one night. I would like to stay near the main train station and not spend too much, since we just plan to sleep there. Can anyone recommend a place that will sleep 3? Thanks.

Thanks for the info. My husband and I have been there before. My daughter really wanted to go to the Anne Frank house, so we took one of our days in Bruges to be able to fly into Amsterdam instead. Any suggestions outside of Rick's are appreciated.

Glad you are including the Anne Frank House. Re-read the Diary first, it will mean more.
Be sure to go after supper, when lines are MUCH shorter (trust me on this),& take kleenex; it's an emotional experience.
Shelley Winters donated the Oscar she won for the movie to the museum, and it's displayed there. Figure an hour, & include time to wander the gift shop--LOTS of books and postcards in there.
There's a great place to eat very near there--the Pancake Bakery. I had a 'lemon pancake' which was SO yummy! Very flat, had powdered sugar on it, lemon wedges (tastes better than it sounds), and Dutch syrup which is a lot like our molasses. They have pancakes of all kinds there, very friendly staff.

Bruges--take time to visit the lace ladies if you can. Small fee, fantastic experience. They work from 2-4 only, will demo their art and answer questions patiently. Check RS book for more info.
(Lace for sale in town is machine-made, beware.)
And don't forget the chocolate!! YUM!!

Thank you for the additional information. The only reason we took a day away from Bruges and decided to fly into Amsterdam instead was for our daughter to see the Anne Frank house. My husband and I went on our previous trip the summer of 2006. It was the highlight of Amsterdam and well worth standing in line for 1 1/2 hours in a cold, pouring rain. I am happy to discover that it is now possible to purchase tickets in advance. We will most certainly take advantage of that! I'm still having trouble finding a reasonably priced, but not disgusting, lodging for 3, for only one night, close to the train station. We're there for such a short time and get in early in the morning. I don't want to spend too much time in winter (never know what the weather will be like) lugging suitcases around, etc. It would be nice for my daughter to see as much as possible. I'm thinking about The Train Hotel. Have any of you stayed there. I would love to hear from you before I make a reservation.

We have booked into the Seven Bridges; a small boutique hotel in the Canal District. We are in Amsterdam for just one night after visiting family in the South of Holland.
The Hotel caught my eye and Trip Advisors rated it as #2 top out of 343. The cost is reasonable, and there is a breakfast delivered to your door. You have to call directly to book, but they confirmed the reservation right away via email. Give it a look; it may work for you and your family. There are some rooms for 2+ people.
Happy Travels

for what its worth, we stayed in the Hotel Singel one night last year. close to train station. not super cheap; $200/night paid in ADVANCE (?). It was clean, quiet, on a canal. good breakfast.

Hi Andrea,
... the above link is to De Gouden Kettingh Hotel (which means: The Gold Chain Hotel). The hotel's name refers to an incident with a servant a few centuries ago when the building was the home of an Amsterdam merchant. The hotel has few guest rooms, but it is reasonable to expect that the hotel can accommodate three by adding a bed to the room, usually a small one. We would suggest making reservation as soon as possible. We've taken rooms there twice and heartily recommend the hotel. Also, we have walked to Centraal Station which is not very far.
... bon voyage! P
