Any feedback on the Hotel Brouwer?
We spent one night there. We essentially only slept there. We arrived in the morning, stashed our bags and went out for the day. We didn't get back until after dinner, got checked into our room and went to sleep pretty quickly as it was our first night in Europe. We had to catch an early train in the morning, so we left before breakfast. We had a triple room that had a canal view (too bad it was dark the entire time we were there). I remember the bathroom floor got very wet when we showered. Oh, the staircase to go up to the rooms is very narrow, steep and winding. Luckily we only had a small tote bag or backpack each, as the regular bags were in a locker at the train station. They may have a small elevator, but I never saw it. It was easy to walk there from the train station. I have only heard good things about it and would stay there again.
Loved Hotel Brouwer! Yes, it Is old and water got on the floor when we showered and the stairs are steep but it is an old canal house. Great location. Great room with a view at a good price. Good breakfast.
I liked it and would stay there again. It's an easy walk from the train station and I loved the view from our room. You'll like it if you value charm, character and good location over luxury or lots of amenities (ie there's no tv, minibar, fluffy robes, reliable elevator, etc). I think the elevator was broken when we went (hmm, or is it possible they didn't have one?), but we only travel with a carry-on sized bag, so it wasn't a big deal. Our floor got wet too, but that's happened a lot of places in Europe, since I don't seem to be able to shower without splashing. I'm very American in my showers I guess.
