With a 4-hour layover in Amsterdam, is it worth it to leave the airport in order to visit a museum downtown, in terms of time that would take? Thanks.

Time too short. Enjoy the airport. It is an airport that actually has things to see and do.

In '06 we had the same layover and booked a van tour right at the airport for a 2 1/2 tour of downtown Amsterdam....yes it was worth the 35Euros to do so and had us back in plenty of time for our flight!
