I am trying to find a place in amsterdam, and it seems like a lot of stuff is in the party/red light district. Anyone have any recommendations for a hostel thats quiet and clean and reasonably priced? I'll only be there one night, but I really don't want to be in a place that's a total party. I value my sleep. Thanks!

Check out Frederic Rent-A-Bike. They have a number of properties but I'm not sure if they have a hostel - I stayed at Frederic's Parents' Place on Brouwersgracht with a friend and the room cost about 70 euros per night. That place was quiet (we stayed there for 2 nights last July) and is in a quiet neighborhood.

Vondelpark hostel isn't bad. I thought it was clean and reasonably quiet. It's near the museums rather than downtown, but you can easily catch a tram to downtown from across the street. They don't allow marijuana in the building so you walk through a cloud to get in the front door (but at least the cloud is outside).
