Amsterdam/Brussels in October

We are thinking of a trip to Amsterdam, Bruges, Ghent and Brussels this October (7th-15th). We are a little concerned about the weather. Any October travelers out there?

Hi Suzanne, We traveled to Ams/Bru in October a few years ago and we had a wonderful time. It was cool and sunny . It rained a little in Brugge and the coolest we had was Amsterdam ,but all we had on was a sweater, light jacket and , very important a scarf. Be ready with warm clothes and enjoy your trip!

"We are a little concerned about the weather." Coming from Ohio, I'm not sure what the concern would be. You can probably count on at least some rain. The temperature could be anything from cool to warm.

Pay attention to the weather in these cities starting in mid-September, and plan/pack accordingly (i.e. are they predicting a lot of rain for that week? Colder than usual? Warmer than usual?) I've only been to Amsterdam in July and August but it was nice and cool there at the height of summer (in the 60s during the day, I would say). Bruges, Ghent, and Brussels were also cool in July/August.

Hi, Suzanne ** We will be 3 days in Brugge, 4 in Amsterdam and 2 in Brussels/Luxembourg ** October 7 through 16...it is based around a trip to Egypt and Jordan later in the month. We will be entering and exiting through Spain...The idea is that weather will be good in Egypt albeit a little cool in that part of Europe. But we will layer/dress accordingly.

We are also heading to Amsterdam/Brussels in early and again in late October (6-9 and 21-23). We're packing layers, including one waterproof one :)

I was in Brussels, Bruges and Amsterdam last November. Hit cool, yet sunny weather in Belgium and rained 5 out of 6 days in Amsterdam. Still had a great time! Bring an umbrella, rain jacket and a scarf. It was in the 40s when I was in Amsterdam and felt just like at home in Indianapolis.

Amsterdam rains, on average, every other day - a little less than average in Summer and a little more than average the rest of the year. Just be prepared for rain and wind (and wind on the days when it isn't rainy), bring a water/wind proof packable shell and some layers for warmth, and you will be fine.
